By far the most destructive drug in California's recent history, Meth and Methamphetamine abuse has skyrocketed in the San Francisco and SF Bay area, as well as surrounding rural areas outside of these metropolises. Meth addiction has caused more disruption, trauma, and destruction to families and communities than any other drug in California in the last decade. In 2008, 29.4% of all drug addiction admissions were for meth, methamphetamine, and amphetamine abuse, with 58,452 people admitted for treatment. Compared to most states, this high of a percentage is shocking, and almost unbelievable.

Meth production has been curbed, however large quantities of meth continue to be trafficked into the country from Mexico. Since it is cheaper to produce locally, many individuals are willing to shop around to buy the supplies to "cook meth" at home. As such, local police enforcement has encouraged all pharmacies and grocery-stores to prevent the chemicals that are used to produce meth from being available except behind-the-counter. This action, along with serious enforcement and disruption of meth labs, has dramatically curbed the use of meth. However there are still hundreds of thousands of individuals in the United States addicted to meth.

If you have taken the courage to break your cycle of dependence, or are looking for a meth treatment center in San Francisco for a loved one who is using meth, please review the meth addiction treatment centers to find a rehabilitation facility that will best fit your needs.
