As it is across the United States, we're seeing a skyrocketing of the social and recreational use of prescription drugs, ranging in character from stolen OxyContin to Adderall and Xanax. Since these drugs are prescribed regularly, they are often available to curious kids or kids who want to make a profit selling these drugs illegally. The real threat that these drugs present is not only the legal repercussions for their distribution and use, but the serious regularity with which these pills are marketed and sold as different drugs, or drugs ranging in potency. Someone can be told that the Xanax they buy is 1/2 a dose, but because a normal "full" dose is also in a pill the same size, people can easily overdose or underdose themselves, leading to supplemental drug use to achieve the high they seek. These dangers, that kids will take these drugs through a wide range of potency, often unknown, is one reason why it is important to either insist your child or loved one visit a prescription drug treatment center in San Francisco, or get yourself into treatment for Adderall, Xanax, or OxyContin abuse.
